This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge necessary to make sound decisions with statistical information. To prepare future decision makers to formulate solutions to challenging business issues, students will survey the nature of data and the techniques and practices available for gathering and summarizing data, and will explore the limitations of each of these data types and methods. In addition, students will compare the statistical inferences of correlation, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing, while being exposed to the potential misuse of these inferences. While working with case studies, students will evaluate and critique the practices and results of completed studies emphasizing the problem areas. While working with assigned mini-projects and the final presentation, students will design artifacts that apply these discussed concepts.
